Fighting Words Belfast

28th Nov 2018

Today, P6/7 went to Fighting Words Belfast in East Belfast to take part in a, "Home is Where the Heart is," project. The children generated wonderful story writing ideas together, creating characters, settings and a plot, in order to write an original story. The main character was Pearce the pencil, who had a friend called Larry the llama. Together they find themselves in Pennsylvania, where Pearce hopes to find other pencils just like him.  The class wrote their ideas down and illustrated their writing.  Some of the stories were read out to the group and each child received their story and illustrations in a bound format to take home with them and add to.  The children's stories will also be shared on the Fighting Words website.

I was so impressed by the children's imaginations and how well they worked together. The volunteers praised the children for their excellent behaviour and manners. We will return again next week for another exciting workshop.  Well done class.
