Good Relations Programme

27th Mar 2017

All Primary 6 pupils were lucky to take part in a 3 week programme promoting cultural awareness.

In the first session staff from Alternatives NI led activities to help the pupils' understanding and awareness of different cultures around the world.  They helped the pupils to understand what a refugee by showing videos and acting out what they might experience coming to a new country.

The second session was a Small Worlds Cafe organised by Sou Belfast Round Table, where 6 people from very different cultural backgrounds met with the children. They talked in small groups about their different experiences of where they lived and how they came to now live in Belfast.

The third session was a celebration day organised by GVRT that allowed the children to have some fun time after all their work. P6 have also been asked to produce a poster relating to the cultural awareness work they have done. It will be a great end to an interesting and fun programme.

A huge thank you to Sarah at GVRT for organising the programme!
