Local Park Visit with the RSPB
Primary Five are currently taking part in the RSPB award system.
In November, we walked to Blythefield Park to complete a mini-beast hunt and a bird survey with Karen from the RSPB. We were surprised at the amount of wildlife on our doorstep and enjoyed bird-spotting using our binoculars. It was really interesting trying to name the birds by their features and we then decided to make bird-feeders to encourage local bird life to visit our school environment.
We searched under logs, leaves and in the mud to find mini-beasts and then collected them in our microscope bug containers to have a closer look at them.
We had a great afternoon! Even though the weather was miserable, it did not stop us from learning and having lots of fun!
