RSPB Big Bird Watch
On Thursday 13th January, Primary Five took part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch. Eleanor from the RSPB brought binoculars, and even though the weather was freezing and miserable, we headed to Blythefield Park to look for birds. Graham from TREE and Melissa from GVRT also joined our class. We spotted 14 different species of birds in our local park, including: blackbird, house sparrow, blue tit, robin, chaffinch, starling, coal tit, woodpigeon, great tit and feral pigeon and herring gull. We also identified a flock of about twenty gold finches circling the allotments and even managed to observe a red pole! The cold weather didn't dampen our spirits and we had a lovely morning.
