Tesco Harvest Trail
P5/6 visited Tesco, on the Lisburn Road, to learn about how food is harvested. Sharon talked to the children about seasonal changes and focused on Autumn and food that was harvested at this time of the year. The children got to try sunflower seeds and dried apples and also learned about preserving food. Sharon even let the children visit the walk-in fridges and freezer. It was a great trip and the children were really well behaved. Tesco gave the class a recipe for vegetable soup and the ingredients to make it. The next day, we made the soup in class and tasted it. It was very healthy and some children even took the recipe home to make it themselves.
